Tansi/Hello! My name is Brooke Metchewais and I am one of the selected delegates running for Miss Indigenous Canada 2026.
For those who know me, know that I have always been passionate for health & wellness. Whether I was playing hockey, travelling for soccer or playing a round of golf, movement has always been my way that I honour myself. There were times I felt like I lost my way in my fitness journey, but it was always there when I was ready to return - this time with a healthier mindset.
As I walk towards Miss Indigenous Canada 2026, I have felt my wellness goals become clearer into focus when I think of what I truly want for our people. Generational health. Being inspired by one another to take care of ourselves in a good way within the four directions - our medicine wheel teachings.
I am excited to share that I will be starting a running challenge to raise funds for the chosen charity of Miss Indigenous Canada 2026, Sunshine House. Sunshine House is a community drop-in and resource center dedicated to harm reduction and social inclusion in Treaty 1 Territory. The work they do is to cultivate culturally safe spaces and walk alongside people in their healing journey by providing wrap-around services and resources.
For every $20.00 raised, I will run 1KM - my goal is to run 300KM between now and July 13th. Through this challenge, 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Sunshine House. ☀️
Help support me in uplifting this cause, where our community can access the supports they truly need.
