My name is Mariana Gallegos, but most of the community knows me as Ms. Mari because I used to teach at Imagination Station Preschool.

With a broken heart, I’m reaching out on behalf of my in-laws who lost everything due to the floods. On July 8th, which seemed like a normal day for them and so many more people here in Ruidoso, my in-laws were outside enjoying themselves when they noticed the water rising in minutes from the river and only had a few minutes to get into their cars to leave. Thankfully, they were lucky enough to get themselves out before the floods could drag them.

In the rush of saving their lives, they had to leave behind their two homes located on Gavilan Canyon. One of them got dragged and broken in half, and the other one got so much debris and was broken as well that it isn’t livable anymore. They also left behind all of their belongings and a vehicle.

As of right now, they are living with me, but I wish I could do so much more for them. That is why I’m reaching out to all my Ruidoso friends, family, and community to help. If you could help with anything, it would be much appreciated.
