Many of you may not know, but I lived and grew up in Jamaica from ages 8 - 18. While I may not have an accent, Jamaica has given me so much more in valuable life lessons and an understanding of the world.

Hurricane Melissa hit Jamaica hard. Thankfully, many of my friends on the island were not impacted. However, Ms. Grant, who was practically a second mother to me and showed me as much love and wisdom as she would one of her own children, was. I owe a lot to her for the ways she shaped my life and provided guidance throughout.

Tragically, during this hurricane, her roof was completely ripped off and her home was flooded. To make matters worse, she was injured and hospitalized. With no roof, she is looking for cover. But resources are scarce and she is at an age where she cannot work.
