Supporting Ms. Cinthya and Her Family During an Unimaginable Loss

On the evening of Saturday, December 6th, tragedy struck Ms. Cinthya’s family in Portoviejo, Ecuador. While driving home, her parents and siblings were unexpectedly caught in crossfire. Her mother - only 46 years old - tragically lost her life, and both her 16-year-old sister and adult brother were severely injured.

Ms. Cinthya’s younger sister is currently in the ICU, fighting for her life, while her brother continues to recover from his injuries. As soon as she received the news, Ms. Cinthya traveled back to Ecuador to be by their side, make urgent medical decisions, and organize the funeral arrangements to say goodbye to her mother.

This sudden tragedy has placed an immense emotional and financial burden on Ms. Cinthya and her husband. As a beloved member of our Montessori Academy of Carrollwood family, she has poured her heart into our children and our school community. Now it is our turn to support her.

We are organizing this GoFundMe to help ease the financial strain brought on by emergency medical care, funeral expenses, travel costs, and the many unexpected needs that arise during such a devastating time.

In addition, our school is hosting a Holiday Market Fundraiser as part of our annual holiday events. A portion of the proceeds from this event will also go directly to support Ms. Cinthya and her family.

Any contribution - no matter the amount - will make a meaningful difference and remind Ms. Cinthya that she is supported, loved, and surrounded by a community that stands with her.
