On the late evening of March 24th, at 11:00pm, a massive car crashed through the home of Ms. Altagrace, who was sitting in her kitchen area when a car came crashing through the wall and missed her by just a few feet away.
Ms. Altagrace is the kind of person who is always thinking about others before herself, always finding ways to accommodate, to help, to show up. Also, Ms. Altagrace is an elderly woman dealing with several health issues, including extremely bad anxiety, and now dealing with PTSD in the aftermath of this morning. Imagine an elderly woman who should be resting soundly is instead carrying something horrific no elderly person should ever have to carry.
The car tore through the patio and into the living area space, leaving it completely destroyed, and the structural damage is severe enough that the house has to be completely rebuilt. Ms. Altagrace has no homeowner's insurance. Ms. Altagrace has been displaced because there is simply no going back until the house is able to be rebuilt.
The day-to-day costs of living, rent, groceries, utilities, and basic necessities for an elderly woman already going through so much is not something Ms. Altagrace, who has always been a giver, is not able to manage right now.
If you've ever been through something unexpected and terrifying, you know that the hardest part isn't always the disaster itself. It's the long, exhausting stretch of rebuilding that follows.

Every dollar goes to Ms. Altagrace as she navigates to rebuild.
