Mr. Aguirre and his five US citizen children are facing an incredibly difficult time. Mr. Aguirre 's wife and step-son were recently arrested by CBP and are detained at the Dilley Family Detention Center. Mr. Aguirre is doing everything he can to care for their other 5 children on his own. Their youngest, Wyatt, was born with bilateral cystic renal dysplasia and is living with end stage renal disease. Wyatt requires multiple dialysis treatments every week in Corpus Christi, far from the family’s home and support network. The hospital in Corpus Christi is the best equipped to handle Wyatt’s complex medical needs, but the move has left Mr. Aguirre and his children isolated in a new city where they know no one.
Mr. Aguirre has been unable to work for nearly a year due to the demands of Wyatt’s medical care and the responsibility juggling medical appointments and caring for the other two youngest children who are not yet old enough for school. The family’s financial situation has become increasingly strained as they try to cover basic living expenses and the many unexpected challenges that come with single-fatherhood under such stressful circumstances.
Funds raised through this campaign will help Mr. Aguirre provide for his children’s daily needs and to provide commissary funds to his wife and step son who are detained at a family detention center known for it's human rights abuses and price gouging. Any support you can offer—whether through a donation or by sharing this fundraiser—will make a real difference for Mr. Aguirre and his family as they navigate this incredibly challenging chapter.
