For over two decades, Pure Funk Dance Studio has been at the heart of Adelaide’s street dance community. There are many avenues in which you can explore dance, and Movement Lab acts as the bridge to explore your own personal connection to street dance and the culture.
What is Movement Lab?
Movement Lab is a weekly training session hosted by Lawson and Freddie, involving a mix of self-guided and collaborative exercises. Lawson and Freddie have travelled interstate and globally to learn, share and connect with other dancers through their respective styles of Animation and Waacking and appreciate the perspective that comes with each culture.
Community is imperative to street dance culture, and this space exists to build upon what has come before while connecting, growing and challenging dancers in their movement and life. Since 2021, this has been a space for dancers of all styles to explore, create and refine their movements. Providing an opportunity to connect, experiment and grow alongside other like-minded folk, this space welcomes all and is an inclusive and accessible space for the Adelaide street dance community.
Why We Need Your Support?
With the rising cost of living, we’re reaching out to our community to help cover essential overheads and keep Movement Lab running sustainably. Your donations will ensure that this invaluable space remains accessible for all dancers to continue their creative journey.
Any contribution, big or small, makes a difference. Thank you for supporting the Adelaide street dance community!
Movement Lab acknowledges this land is the traditional lands of the Kaurna people and we respect their continuing connection to land, waters and community. They are the custodians of the greater Adelaide region and we pay our respects to the people, the culture and elders, past, present and emerging.
