Support Move-In Costs Against Prolonged Housing Battle

Hey there, this is Devin. Back in October of last year, my family of four and our cats took a brief window of opportunity given to us by our friends and family to escape the southern United States for the pacific northwest. While this was an overall success (helped in part by you!) and the environment has been an overall upgrade, we have struggled to secure proper housing. The biggest issue stems from the fact that we were led on by an apartment that was truly disinterested in moving our application along, as they told us they were in the middle of a corporate merger with another company. Considering the costs of moving your things across the country, we didn't have the funds to send to other apartment applications in hopes one would get us in in a more timely manner than the apartment that kept leading us on with "eventually" or similar. Well, eventually the merger did happen in December of last year, and the new ownership has thankfully been more on top of things since taking over, despite having to basically restart the entire application process from square one. During this whole process, which has been about 3 months long, we have sustained three car break-ins, each causing noticeable damage to the car. The window, which remains "patched-up" but still cannot be used. The gas tubing, which was likely removed in order to steal gas from the car, and the battery, which was cut in order to be stolen, but they did not finish the process of taking the whole battery. The added costs of paying to stay in a hotel (even on the cheaper side in this city), these car diagnostic and repair costs, and the general cost of groceries has put us in another tight situation. My place of employment has been equally uncooperative, with August of last year marking a shift in hours cut across the board, with any sort of sustained recovery being short lasted. This GFM is created in order to help sustain the initial move-in costs, which are expected to be soon as we iron out the final parts of the move-in (including the security deposit and setup of utilities) and seeking thrifted/used furniture after being moved in. Thank you for your endless kindness in helping us over these troubled finish lines.
