Contrary to media reports, we are not on strike for solely monetary reasons.

We are currently in the third week of the strike, heading into the cold every day to fight for the safety of our patients and staff. As we prepare to head into the fourth week, we are asking our community for support.

If us nurses have the confidence and financial security to stay on strike, we can ensure our demands for safe patient care and a safe working environment are won!

Our L&D unit has been particularly targeted by Sinai management with unjust union-busting tactics. This has including the official disciplining of 9 L&D nurses and the termination of 3 L&D nurses the night before the strike started.

What are we fighting for?

We are fighting to maintain strict patient-ratio language that will allow us to keep providing safe care (the less patients per nurse the more time we have for each patient).

We are fighting for security measures in the hospital to protect our staff and patients.

We are fighting to maintain our health benefits, so that every nurse can have proper healthcare.

We are fighting to have these unjust disciplines and terminations thrown-out.

And we are fighting for fair wages and compensation.

We are committed to winning the best contract that benefits our patients and families. We hope that our strike in NYC will positively effect the working conditions for nurses in hospitals across the country.
