I’m Natalie, a midwife from Belgium, and I’m partnering with Uzuri Birth in Accra to support mothers and midwives in Accra, Ghana.

Every mother deserves a safe birth and a strong start for her baby. Yet many families lack access to basic postpartum essentials, and local midwives often work without the supplies they need to provide safe, quality care.

Through this initiative, we aim to provide 100 new mothers with thoughtfully prepared postpartum care bags filled with essential items to support recovery and newborn care during those critical first weeks. At the same time, we are committed to equipping local midwives with much-needed medical supplies (eg. doptones, stethescopes, sterile gloves,...) so they can continue their life-saving work safely and effectively.

Ik ben Natalie, een vroedvrouw uit België, en ik werk samen met Uzuri Birth in Accra om moeders en vroedvrouwen in Accra, Ghana te ondersteunen.

Elke moeder verdient een veilige bevalling en een sterke start voor haar baby. Toch hebben veel gezinnen geen toegang tot basisbenodigdheden voor de periode na de bevalling, en werken lokale vroedvrouwen vaak zonder de materialen die ze nodig hebben om veilige en kwaliteitsvolle zorg te bieden.

Met dit initiatief willen we 100 kersverse moeders voorzien van zorgvuldig samengestelde postpartumpakketten, gevuld met essentiële artikelen ter ondersteuning van het herstel van de moeder en de zorg voor de pasgeborene tijdens die cruciale eerste weken. Tegelijkertijd engageren we ons om lokale vroedvrouwen te voorzien van broodnodige medische materialen (zoals doptones, stethoscopen, steriele handschoenen, …), zodat zij hun levensreddende werk veilig en doeltreffend kunnen voortzetten.
