Over the last few months, attacks against working-class immigrants have intensified. While deportations harm the entire working class, the thousands of families losing a primary caretaker or breadwinner are facing an additional burden.

For the end of International Working Women’s Month, we are raising money for mothers who are fighting back against family separation. Most of them are Poder Popular members.

Lupita's husband, Angel, was deported to Mexico this year despite having a pending green card application. Lupita is a mother of 6 children. She and Angel are members of Unidos Por Nuestras Familias Tenant Union.

Angel was the only adult in the family with a bank account. When he was deported, immigration authorities canceled his bank account and seized the funds, which included the wages that Lupita had earned working as a domestic worker.

In February 2026, Abigail’s husband, Diego, was arrested by LaVergne police while stopping to get gas before work. ICE then detained him. He is currently in a detention facility in Memphis.

Abigail sells plates of food in her neighborhood and is raising her and Diego’s children. Since Diego was the primary breadwinner of the family, Abigail now has to worry about making ends meet.
Abigail is aso a member of Unidos Por Nuestras Familias tenant union.

Luisa’s partner, Franklin, was deported to Guatemala in December 2025. Franklin’s car was seized when he got deported, and Luisa is unable to get it back without Franklin being present. Unfortunately, Franklin’s car was the family car.

Luisa works in construction cleaning to support her 1-year-old son. She is raising money for rent and also to get a Guatemalan passport for her son. Ensuring her son has a passport is a crucial step to ensure her family will stay together.

ICE has been deporting the sole caregivers of many households across the country. When that happens, children often end up in state custody if they lack the documentation they need to travel to reunite with their parents.

Yesi was halfway through her pregnancy when her husband, Pedro, was deported in September 2025. After her husband was taken, she worked overtime almost every day. The stress caused complications for her pregnancy, which has prevented her from being able to work at the same rate she used to before giving birth.

Yesi is raising money for rent and groceries. She is raising 4 children on her own. Yesi is a member of Unidos Por Nuestras Familias tenant union.

Miriam’s husband, Marcos, was deported less than a month ago. Marcos was detained as a result of a traffic stop on his way to work. Both Marcos and Miriam are members of Unidos Por Un Cambio tenant union.

Miriam and Marcos have 3 children, and they just purchased a mobile home, which they are still paying for. To pay bills, Miriam had to get a second job and sell the family car.
