In Loving Memory of My Sister, Erum

My name is Ali Hasan Syed, and I will be running the Boulderthon Marathon (26.2 miles) in memory of my sister, Erum.

A few years ago, Erum’s life was tragically cut short in Detroit when she was struck by a drunk driver. Losing her was the most painful moment of my life, and not a day goes by that I don’t miss her smile, her kindness, and the love she brought into our family.

To honor Erum’s life and carry her spirit forward, I am dedicating this marathon to her and raising funds for Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). MADD is an organization committed to:

Preventing drunk and drugged driving through awareness and education.

Supporting victims and families affected by impaired driving.

Advocating for safer communities through stronger laws.

Every step I take during this marathon is for Erum—and for all the families who have been touched by similar tragedies.
