Hi, my name is Scout Medley, I am the daughter of Monty Medley, as well as one of four siblings. To start this story, I would have to start about 2 months ago. My dad fell ill with what we thought was just strep, an easy fix with just some antibiotics, boy were we wrong. The strep then turned into pneumonia, and from there, so many more problems arose. My dad had previously been to the ER three times, as well as seen many doctors and specialists, no one could find the root cause of his illness. Since becoming sick, my dad had a very hard time going to work, but he still went any day he knew he could make it. My dad put his blood, sweat, and tears into his work. He cared so deeply for everyone that was part of his community, but sadly, they decided to fire him during the time he needed them the most. On Friday, June 8th, we decided to take my dad to the ER once again. Since being at the hospital, he has had three seizures as well as many medical problems being found. We still don’t know the root of all his problems, but he continues to fight, and I trust he will make it out as the strong man he has always been.
Now that I have explained my dad’s medical history, I am going to talk about him as a person. Oh boy, my dad, my absolute best friend—I don’t think words could describe how amazing this man is. He has the biggest heart and the strongest soul. He is someone I strive to be every day, and I don’t know who I would be without him. Everyone loves to joke that I am a mini version of my dad, and I am proud I am. My siblings and I have had the privilege to grow up with such an amazing father, and I strongly believe everyone needs to have a Monty in their life. He is not just an amazing father but also an amazing friend, brother, son, and man. I could write pages and pages about my dad, and as my eyes fill up with tears while writing this, I wished everyone knew how grateful they should be to have this man in their lives. Having to see him go through this rough time has broken my heart more than I could ever explain. In my eyes, nothing can take my dad down, and I know with all my heart that he is strong enough to get through this.
I would like to finish this off by thanking you for taking the time to read my dad's story and know that he brings so much love and joy to this world. I am sad to be having to write this at all, but I am thankful for all the wonderful people who have kept him in their prayers and hearts. This fundraiser will go towards my dad's medical expenses as he takes the time he needs to heal and get back on his feet.
