Our group came together to support the urgent legal needs for members of our Montgomery Blair High School (Silver Spring MD) community who are affected by immigration enforcement. Blair Unida is a group of Blair teachers, staff, parents, caregivers, and community members who joined together to support our immigrant students and neighbors.
Your donations directly support Blair students and their parents or caregivers, including:
a student in immigration detention who has chosen to leave the country because his parents were deported a few months ago.
a Blair and Rolling Terrace family whose father is in detention and being threatened with deportation to Mexico even though he is from Guatemala.
ongoing legal fees for a Blair father we raised money to get released from detention this summer as his case moves through the immigration court system
two additional Blair families who have had a parent apprehended on the street and detained very recently.
We will continue to raise money for other needs as they arise. Many Blair families are being torn apart by unjust and unnecessary immigration apprehension, detention, and removal. Legal fees for one case are often tens of thousands of dollars. Thank you for supporting us in being Blair Unida!
