I’m Monica, and most of you know I’m a mom to four amazing children: Jose, who is 15 and autistic, Justin, who is 14, Mia, who is 12, and Jeremiah, who is 9. I became a mom at just 16 years old and that was life-changing. My journey began when I was just a teenager, and I’ve navigated many challenges along the way. Despite a difficult start, I’ve always been committed to providing the best for my kids.

I’m proud to say I graduated high school with two kids on my hip. I left an abusive relationship, fought back, and pushed forward to overcome my fears. By the age of 20, I bought my first car and got an apartment for my kids and me. I even had the chance to attend college.

Shortly after starting school, my son José was diagnosed with autism, so I took time off to focus on his needs. Today, he’s thriving—just like all my children.

Over the years, I’ve worked hard to provide for my kids and give them the best life possible. I landed a great job, and life began to look brighter for us. We were blessed to travel, and for the first time in many years since my father was deported, I was able to visit him in Mexico. My children finally got to meet their grandpa for the first time, and that moment meant everything to me.

This year has brought many challenges that tested our strength, but through it all, we’ve continued to push forward and rebuild. Recently, our prayers were answered with an amazing opportunity to become first-time homeowners — something I’ve dreamed of for my children so they can finally have the stable, loving home they deserve.

I’ve been saving consistently and doing everything I can to prepare for this moment. After crunching the numbers, I found that we’re still about $5,000 short for the down payment. It’s a significant amount, which is why I’m reaching out.
