Friends of Monica Smearman. Monica, her husband Michael, and their two young daughters have lived in Ferndale for sixteen years. Approximately five years ago, Monica was diagnosed with Nutcracker syndrome, a rare debilitating disease. It is a vascular condition that significantly impacts kidney function and quality of life. Since moving to Ferndale, Monica has been very active in the community. She is currently the sitting President of the Greater Ferndale Community Civic Association. She has given so much of herself to improve the community and make it a better place.
