Support Mom's Diner: Keep Local Gem Open

My mother, Gaylyn Steelman, owns and operates Gaylyn’s Diner, a cherished local establishment in Leland, NC. Today she received a certified letter stating that she must pay her overdue rent or evacuate the premises within 30 days.
Due to the ongoing battle with my stepfather’s cancer, which requires frequent trips to Chapel Hill for treatments, combined with the daily demands of managing the diner, she unintentionally fell behind on the rent. Initially the landlord was understanding of our situation, granting us some leniency. However, the situation has now escalated and they are demanding the full amount to avoid eviction.
Gaylyn’s Diner has been a cornerstone of our community for the past 20 years, offering a unique home-cooked dining experience that is rare to find nowadays. My mom inherited the diner from her father, making it a family legacy that holds deep sentimental value for her and many of our loyal customers. Losing the diner would not only be a personal loss but also a significant blow to the community that relies on it.
Given the current circumstances, we are reaching out for support to help us raise the necessary funds to cover the overdue rent. Any assistance in saving Gaylyn’s Diner would be immensely appreciated, ensuring this beloved establishment can continue serving the community and upholding the family legacy.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
