Support Mom and Dad Through His Illness

I'm making this go fund me for my mom she hasn't been to work in almost a month and the bills are piling up and she wants to be at the hospital with our dad. She has been taking care of my dad so she hasn't been able to work, anything I will help even prayers for her and our dad here's a little bit of what's going on.

Dad has been fighting some kind of skin infection for this last year. I’ve taken him to many dermatologist, allergist wnd cancer doctors to make sure it’s not cancerous. We have not received any answers after seeing over 20 doctors including the ER and urgernt cares as well. In the last year dad has lost over 100 pounds and has only been eating chicken, green beans and plain potatoes because they told him he was allergic to a lot of foods.

Fast forwards this continues including his rash, the last 3 months he’s not been feeling well complaining of his chest. He goes to urgent care they said it was just a Little bit of pneumonia in his lungs and they give antibiotics for it and send him on his way. He had to do these for the time they told him and if he wasn’t better he had to revisit his doctor in a week or two. That being said about 3 weeks goes by same thing he goes back they notice he still had it so the treat him again with the same thing just a longer dose of it.

About 1 month ago he calls me and says can you come over. So I went over he said I don’t feel good what should I do. He was hacking and didn’t look well we went to the er 2 times in 2 weeks just to find out his body isn’t respond to antibiotics anymore. Now here’s the reason. When he foirst started the rash they started him on prednisone and he’s been on it over a year. When a body is on a steroid so long like that it’s suppresses the system. Meaning it makes it hard on your body to fight infections and weakens the body when you need it to fight infections.

Anyways they give him more antibiotics and sent him on his way. Within the last month, dad had been taking lots of falls, puking everyday, unable to hold any food down, dad would do nothing but sleep. It’s really a lot to explain. Well knots a week ago now mom had to call 911 because dad was not responsive with her and couldn’t even take a drink for his medication. They took him straight in to the ER wnd started doing cat scans, X-rays, MRI’s, and everything else you can think of. Dad finally got a room in a few days and the doctors ordered a spinal tap.

That’s when the world changed and reality for us all hit. Dad has been confused for days now. He’s not really with it so when you talk to him he’s just lost half the time. Dad’s pneumonia, turned into a fungus in his lungs because of the steroids surprising his system and went up to his brain causeing him to have bacterial meningitis. Some people can come out of it some people may not. It’s very fatal and dad was transferred to MU. There can be treatment for it just depending on how long he’s had it and how much damage has been done. As of right now he’s still not able to eat or drink. He can’t walk and he still does not make any sense when he try’s to talk. Dad has long road ahead of him. Mom is to scared to leave him so they are struggling at the moment. So please if you want to help or you can you can reach out to one of us girls or my mom. I really don’t feel like doing a go fund me, everybody keeps saying do one but they take a percentage of it anyways. They did check his fluid on his brain it was normal. It’s just a day by day right now to see how all these medications works for him.
