Mohsen Omidzad is an Iranian-Canadian entrepreneur and a valued member of the Toronto community who has spent years building spaces centered on culture, connection, and service.

He owned and operated three Iranian restaurants in North York called Toranj (meaning “bergamot” in Farsi, a symbol of beauty in Persian poetry). These were more than restaurants - they were community spaces where people gathered and felt a sense of belonging.

Over the past year, Mohsen and his businesses were subjected to ongoing and escalating pressures that those close to him believe were directly linked to his openly expressed views. These were not isolated incidents, but a pattern that ultimately led to the closure of all three restaurant locations, removing his primary source of income.

In addition, Mohsen operated Omid Student Admission Services, where he supported international students pursuing education in Canada as an authorized agent for Seneca Polytechnic. This business was also forced to close on March 11, 2026, further compounding his financial hardship.

On March 14, 2026, while returning to his car after attending a public demonstration in downtown Toronto, Mohsen was physically attacked. This incident has had a serious impact on both his physical and emotional well-being.

Taken together, these events have left Mohsen in an extremely vulnerable position - financially, physically, and emotionally.

He is now struggling to cover basic living expenses, including rent and utilities, and is at risk of losing his home.
