Hello, my name is Kiara. I have a friend in Gaza, his name is Mohamed Badra, he is 28 years old. He is the eldest of 5 brothers and they live together in a tent made of tarp. Mohamed lives in an encampment of hundreds of other Palestinians displaced from the bombardment and destruction of their homes in October 2023.
For nearly a year, Mohamed and his family have faced the traumas and trials of constant displacement, losing everything under threat of death. Due to the blockade of aid and imports, Palestinians in Gaza struggle to access necessities like drinkable water, medicine, food, and hygiene products. Basic needs are beyond expensive.
Basic survival is expensive and deeply exhausting, costing Mohamed and his family members hours standing in lines to get drinkable water, finding fuel for fire, and gathering in limited areas to access wi-fi for the limited times when the internet is working.
Mohamed is living through history. We are bearing witness. Like millions of people who have watched in horror as people are denied access to aid, basic needs, and face ongoing genocide, I have wanted to find a way to do something, anything. Let’s shape history in this small way, by offering direct aid to a family facing the specters of genocide and famine.
Mohamed has asked for me to take on the responsibility of running his donation campaign to help him and his family. One thing off his mental load.
This is a tremendous honor and also a very daunting task. Not because it’s impossible but because I can’t raise this money or spread the word on my own.
Please, share this campaign with others. We are not powerless. We are each other's keeper. I am entrusting this task to any and all readers. Please help Mohamed Badra and his family to survive and access their basic needs as they face homelessness and besiegement in Gaza.
