UPDATE
I’m so excited!!! I’m leaving tomorrow!!! Got my passport, visa, yellow vaccine and vaccine card, plane tickets, I’m packed, and it’s real!!’
I’m so excited to tell you that not only am I going but I’m extending my stay!! The first part will be work with animals but the second part will be with the kids. Literally a prayer come to fruition. I’ve been praying for two years to find a way to work with trafficked and abused kids. As a veterinarian it’s hard to break into that area. But it happened!!! Please pray this will continue and I will be blessed with helping as many kids as possible. Obviously I’ve spent my life helping animals and will continue but kids are a huge part of my ❤️
After years of talking about it and months of intense prayer, I have decided to follow my heart and do some mission work. I have felt called to once again work with children, but now, as a veterinarian, I have the opportunity to help animals as well. I have joined the Christian Veterinary Mission and will be starting short-term missions this summer. I am leaving my future in God’s hands and will remain willing to serve where I am most needed. I hope to get back to Kenya, where I worked with AIDS orphans 20 years ago! I am already on board for a mission trip to Uganda in June where I will do veterinary work while helping underserved families and communities. At the same time, I will share my Christian testimony. In July, Jack and I head to Alaska to work in a remote tribal community that has never been served. We hope to share Gods word while we do much needed spays, neuters, and vaccines.
So, my plans are a bit fluid at this point, but I will continue to pray and go to serve where I can for as long as I can.
Lots of prayer and soul-searching led to this decision, and I know what’s in store won’t be the easy route.
I’ve been putting off serving for too long. There is never a “right” time, and there is never “enough” money. I’ll do it “someday.” Well, the “someday” is now. I have been Chosen.
