Our family is facing an unimaginable loss. My sister Miranda lost her husband, Joel, suddenly just five years into their marriage. She is now grieving while caring for her newborn daughter, Sophia, navigating life and logistics in Copenhagen far from much of her support system. Miranda and Joel went through so much to welcome Sophia into the world, including the heartbreak of losing their first son and enduring several rounds of IVF. Now, with Joel gone, Miranda is left to face the challenges of new motherhood and profound grief on her own.
Miranda is currently unemployed and will need help with everything from food and daily living expenses to cleaning, child care, and house maintenance. There are also bigger items to tackle, like bills, car expenses, residency requirements, and all the other decisions she now faces alone. The most meaningful thing we can do is give her the space to grieve, care for baby Sophia, and begin healing without the added weight of financial stress.
Any support you can give means the world to our family. If you’re not financially able, sharing this and keeping her and her daughter in your thoughts means more than we can express. Your kindness will help Miranda and Sophia find stability and hope during this incredibly difficult time. Thank you for standing with them and showing that they are not alone.
