We love the Minnesota Slow Street. Let's make it permanent. Help us enable more people to enjoy and protect this wonderful resource. With your support we can do additional slow street activations such as the Halloween Spook Stroll , we can print "We Love MinneSLOWta" window signs and can distribute fliers to neighbors. Funds also enable us to purchase food, drink and entertainment for events, backdrops for photos and even potentially art or plants to further beautify MinneSLOWta. MinneSLOWta volunteers have already organized events and attractions such as the Spooky Stroll, MinneSLOWta trash clean-up and the Dogpatch Planet Walk art feature. We are eager to do more.
As part of SFMTA’s response to the COVID crisis and the need for San Franciscan’s to have access to safe & healthy outdoor recreation, the blocks of Minnesota between Mariposa and 22nd have been made into a Slow Street. Slow Streets are streets that are open for walking, running, wheeling, biking and playing. Cars may only travel the street for under one block and only to reach a destination on that block.
The MinneSLOWta slow street also provides an important connection to the protected bike lanes on 4th and 16th Streets. Residents of all ages and abilities are now enjoying this Slow Street. It has been so beautiful to see children biking, scooting and running around. Making the slow street permanent also is the key step to improving how the slow street works. Only by making the slow street permanent do we get to engage with SFMTA on how to improve it.
Finally if you haven't yet joined our list to support MinneSLOWta be sure to also sign up here. Many thanks in advance for your contribution.
