Welcome to Military Families and Friends of Moffett Field. We are a community-led nonprofit start up dedicated to bridging the gap in resources and services for families living near and at Moffett Federal Airfield in Mountain View, CA. We support all military families of Silicon Valley.

We are excited to announce our inaugural event: "The Month of Military Child Celebration at Moffett Federal Airfield". We need your financial support. All contributions will go directly to Military Families and Friends of Moffett Field to help bridge the resource gap. Support Military Families and Friends of Moffett Field

Moffett Federal Airfield, home to NASA Ames Research Center and several government organizations, serves as a base for military families from all branches of service, including the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, and Coast Guard. While some families live in privatized military housing at Wescott and Shenandoah Village, a larger portion of our community resides off-base across Silicon Valley.

Unlike many military installations, Moffett Field is located in a high-cost, tech-driven region with limited traditional support structures for military families. This gap can leave families feeling isolated or underserved, especially during relocations, deployments, or the everyday challenges of life. The cost of living in Mountain View is 131% higher than the national average, as noted by BestPlaces.Net, making it even harder for families to manage essentials like gas, food, and childcare on a fixed military salary.

Silicon Valley is vibrant, but it’s not always built with military families in mind. From deployments to parenting and financial stress, the challenges are real. But so is our potential — to connect, support, and uplift one another in meaningful ways. We exist to change this reality by offering tailored support, building a strong community, and advocating for the families who serve behind the scenes.
