Support Homeless Migrants in East Village NYC

Hi! This is Kevin Chen and Jerry Hong, friends living in the East Village neighborhood in New York City. There's currently hundreds of asylum seekers and migrants waiting outside St. Brigid's (7th + Ave B) every day for a spot in the shelter. It's been ~30 degrees, and most are underdressed and underfed. They're carrying everything they have in a backpack. Volunteers in the community have been the primary source of food, clothing, and supplies while they wait. There's a huge gap in need and supply to meet that need right now, so we're reaching out to you to help us bridge this gap in our community.

How your funds will help: Your donations will enable us to continue purchasing bulk nutritious food (e.g. granola bars, oranges) and warm clothing (e.g. socks, boots) to hand out. 100% of the funds donated here will go towards supplies that we will personally take to those in need. We will provide frequent updates and end the fundraiser when the needs change or diminish.

Why: Just like how God has rescued and loved us at our poorest and neediest moments, God specifically calls us to serve others that are poor, needy, and strangers in return. Our families or ancestors were all strangers at one point in a foreign land, and we hope to pass on and show Christ's love and kindness through doing what we can.

Deuteronomy 10:18-19

He administers justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the stranger, giving him food and clothing. Therefore love the stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.

Matthew 25:35-36,40

For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’ ...And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’
