Help NICU Nurse in the ICU Fighting for Her Life & Mother of Four, Michelle Steele, Fight Guillain-Barré Syndrome
Life can change in an instant. Just a few weeks ago, Michelle Steele was a healthy, loving, and hardworking mother of four — and a dedicated NICU nurse at UK Children’s Hospital. She spent her days caring for the tiniest, most fragile babies, comforting worried parents, and giving her heart to families in their most vulnerable moments.
At home, she poured that same love and energy into raising her four beautiful children, attending school events, making family dinners, and being the glue that holds her household together. Now, Michelle — who has spent her life helping others — needs our help more than ever.

Her Sudden and Heartbreaking Diagnosis
It started with what seemed like something small — tingling in her feet, weakness in her legs. Within days, her symptoms progressed so rapidly that she could no longer walk. She was rushed to the hospital and diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) — a rare, life-threatening autoimmune disorder where the immune system attacks the body’s nerves.
GBS can cause paralysis, intense nerve pain, breathing difficulties, and in severe cases, complete loss of mobility. Michelle is now facing the fight of her life, relying on intensive hospital care and holding onto the hope that with treatment, therapy, and time, she can regain her strength.

The Toll on Her Family
As a mother of four young children, being away from them is heartbreaking. They miss their mom’s hugs, her laughter, and her steady presence at home. Her husband has had to cut back on work to care for both her and the kids, leaving the family with little to no income.
Daily life has been turned upside down. The family are trying to stay strong, but the emotional and financial strain is overwhelming.

Why We’re Asking for Help
Recovering from GBS is a long and difficult journey. It can take months — sometimes years — of rehabilitation to relearn basic things like standing, walking, and even holding a fork. The medical expenses are enormous and growing every day.
Your donations will help cover:
• Hospital and medical bills not covered by insurance
• Months of physical and occupational therapy
• Specialized equipment (wheelchair, home modifications, lift devices)
• Transportation to and from appointments
• Childcare and household help while she recovers
• Everyday living expenses while both Michelle and her husband are unable to work
Every dollar will go directly toward helping Michelle recover and keeping her children cared for during this devastating time.

How You Can Help
No amount is too small. Even $5 can make a difference. If you can’t donate, please share this page with your friends, family, and social networks to help us reach more people who might be able to help.
Michelle has spent her career helping others — now it’s our turn to help her. With the right treatment, time, and support, we believe she can walk again, return to her patients, and most importantly, come home to her four children.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, generosity, and prayers.
Please donate or share today — help us give Michelle Steele a fighting chance.
