Support Michelle Cook's Battle with Brain Cancer
Donation protected
Many may not know, but in May, my mom, Michelle Cook, was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer that has spread and metastasized in her brain.
This diagnosis came as a shock to us, as it was completely out of nowhere. The doctors were quick at getting her in with many different specialists due to her sister, my aunt, having recently passed not long before from brain cancer.
My mom went through radiation and is now in chemotherapy but, as anyone knows with cancer, it's a long battle, and at the moment it seems that she is not getting better.
My mom’s memory is going very quickly and seems to be worse with each day that passes. My dad, Larry, is the only source of income in the home. My sister, Kirsten Mease, and I are doing and will do everything we can to assist our parents in this battle, but we need help.
My mom has many appointments not in town. The team in Branson and Springfield were not able to handle her care anymore, so she is now seeing a team of doctors at KU. This requires my dad to take time off work.
My dad also needs to take some time off to spend with my mom. My mom needs someone to be with her most of the time. He also needs time to spend with her so that they can make some more lasting memories, in the event my mom’s memory gets worse.
Anything would help during this time and it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for helping our family. We are grateful.
