Support Michael & Richard's Path to Parenthood

Our dear friends, Michael Vaughn and Richard Marshall, are embarking on the beautiful journey of parenthood through adoption.

Adoption has been their dream for so long - you know how much they love their found family, and how much family means to them! They have so much love to share. The past few years have been challenging for many of us, and Richard and Michael have had more than their share of curveballs, most notably the passing of Richard's mom. I was so happy when they shared their adoption news with me and have learned so much about their adoption journey. For one, an amazingly inclusive and caring agency has guided them through the process. This agency supports the birth parent and encourages open adoption. It should not have surprised me, however, that a caring and thoughtful adoption process can take up to two years, but adoptive parents may have just a few hours' notice to meet their new family member. In addition, legal fees alone can cost upwards of $50,000 - fees that must be paid at the time of adoption.

That's what prompted a group of their friends to launch this GoFundMe campaign - this uncertain adoption timeline means that Michael and Richard may not achieve their financial goals for adoption at the time their new family member is ready to come home. Make no mistake - they are ready! Courses have been taken. Their home has been prepared. Ricky is impatient to assume the role of Furry Big Brother.
