My name is Laura (Kloster) Farjood and Michael Kloster (58) is my younger brother, affectionately called "Doughboy" by his friend group. Mike is known for always helping others out, whether it is shoveling the neighbor's driveway, mowing a friend's lawn or helping out a local farmer. He is also very musical and a talented "Wedding Singer." He is a true blue friend and all-around amazing person. It is time for us to give back to help his family out in a time of need.
Michael Kloster is a devoted husband, father, and son and a longtime construction estimator who has spent his entire career with Larson Contracting in Lake Mills, Iowa. On December 11, Michael suffered a severe stroke that has abruptly changed his family's life.
Michael is currently unable to work and faces months (and possibly longer) of intensive rehabilitation. This care will take place far from his home in Mason City, Iowa, creating significant travel, lodging, and caregiving challenges for his family.
Michael's wife, Jil, a CT technologist who works nights, will need to take extended time off from work to be by his side during recovery. Michael and Jil are also the primary caregivers for their son, Kaleb, who has special needs and requires specialized services, consistency, and individualized care. As medical needs grow and income is interrupted, the Kloster family is facing mounting financial pressure during an extraordinarily overwhelming time.
A contribution, of any amount, will help support Michael and his family as he begins the long road to recovery. Donations will assist with food and care for Kaleb, travel and accommodations for Jil, and support essential monthly household expenses.
Thank you for your kindness, support, generosity, and prayers and good wishes for the Kloster family.
(We will provide updates as his recovery begins. At present, he remains in acute care in Iowa City Hospitals to stabilize his medical condition.)
