Support Michael and Eva's Adoption Journey

We are Michael and Eva Shell. We love the Lord and part of living that out involves loving and caring for children and others in need.

We have talked about our desire to adopt someday since our courtship days 19 years ago. We always thought we would adopt a newborn until we learned how incredibly costly that route is. So we got licensed for foster to adopt in 2022. After nearly 2 years went by with no referrals at all we felt that the door to growing our family in that way was closed. Meanwhile the desire to adopt intensified.

We began reaching out to various adoption agencies and talking with friends and relatives who have adopted domestically. Opt to Adopt is doing our homestudy. We expect the homestudy to be completed in the near future.

As mentioned before, newborn adoption is very costly ($30,000-$80,000). This money pays for the birth mother's prenatal and postnatal care, basic housing, baby's birth, attorney fees, travel expenses and hotel stay for the adopting family, etc. Humanly speaking, this amount of money seems impossible for us to come up with. With God all things are possible. We continue to lay our need before Him Our church brotherhood is planning to help , how much we are a little unsure. A few friends have privately helped us already. It has been advised to us to have a good portion of the funds available before we reach out to the adoption attorney whom we are considering using.
