Hi! My name is Mia, and I am a first year OTD-Hybrid student at the Medical University of South Carolina.
This May, I have the privilege of traveling to Belize as part of my Level I Fieldwork clinical rotation with the Medical University of South Carolina’s Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program, alongside a group of fellow MUSC OTD students ✈️
During this experience, we will be partnering with Therapy Volunteers, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide life-changing pediatric therapy services to underserved global communities Therapy Volunteers offers high-quality, cost-free occupational and speech-language therapy while collaborating with local partners to promote sustainable, long-term impact.
As part of this required clinical rotation, our student team will help deliver pediatric occupational therapy and speech-language therapy services in clinics and local schools , supporting children who have limited access to therapeutic care. This hands-on experience will allow us to apply our academic training while learning from and serving communities through a lens of cultural humility and global health.
This opportunity aligns deeply with my career goal of becoming a pediatric occupational therapist committed to service-based practice However, participating in this fieldwork rotation involves significant costs related to travel, housing, program fees, and clinical supplies.
I am raising funds to help offset these expenses so I can fully participate in this educational and service-driven experience. Any contribution—no matter the size—will directly support my clinical education and help expand access to pediatric therapy services for children in Belize.
Thank you so much for your support, encouragement, and belief in my journey. I am truly grateful for any help in making this opportunity possible!!
