My name is Ashley and I am one of Jenalysse best friends. She is a diamond in the rough and one of the strongest women I know.

Very shortly her oldest daughter, Melody, will be having a very invasive surgery to remove her left eye. Melody (and Jenalysse and her youngest daughter) all have a genetic syndrome called “Cat Eye Syndrome”. For Melody it affects her eye.

for years she has been going to get a partial prosthetic put in every 6 weeks, but now it has become too painful.

There is also signs of some elevation behind her eye, and they’re now unsure if it is benign or not.

in addition her eye and head have become increasingly painful for Melody.

Her surgery has gone from being urgent to emergent.

The initial recovery time is between 6-12 weeks, and she will likely need an additional 8 weeks in order to get back to school.

she will have a full prosthetic placed and our prayer is she will be pain free! And it will remove anything that could be harmful to her behind her eye.

Jena has already exhausted her PFMLA for the year between her other two kids, and is a strong single mom with other things happening in life. she will have to be out of work for at least three months while Melody heals.
