Multiple autoimmune disorders and chronic fatigue syndrome (which is waaaay worse than it sounds) continue to attack Melissa’s body and brain. Once independent and strong, she’s now alone, sick, scared, and out of resources.

Melissa requires assistance in literally every aspect of daily life, including rides to medical appointments; personal-care aides to help with basic tasks; nourishing food; and help to ensure hurricane safety, functional plumbing, and hot water for her apartment.

These essentials are out of reach without support, and every day brings new challenges. Without reliable transportation, Melissa misses critical medical attention. Without personal-care aides, she finds daily tasks—even communication—overwhelming. Her home, once a place of comfort, requires repairs she cannot afford.
