Support Melissa in Keeping Her Family Home

My name is Melissa and I was an early childhood education teacher for 39 years at the same preschool in Riverside, CA.

My entire life, I was raised in my home, which I currently reside in. I lived with my grandmother and my mother. Unfortunately, when my grandmother passed several years ago, my mother and I had to take a reverse mortgage out on the house because my mother had suffered from two strokes and was unable to work.

In May 2023, I decided it was best to retire from my job as a preschool teacher and stay at home with my mother full-time to take care of her as she was aging and needed assistance at home.

It was discovered in April of 2024 that my mother had stage 4 cancer and treatment wasn't a good option for her condition. She passed on August 17, 2024.

My mother's name was listed on the reverse mortgage, but unfortunately, my name was not able to be added. So I have 90 days to vacate the home that I grew up in or pay the note on the house. I am in the process of asking for an extension to buy some more time to hopefully stay in my home. I’m also currently trying to find an employment in area to meet these goals

This GoFundMe is started for the purpose of hopefully paying the bank so that I can continue to live in the house that I grew up in. If I am unable to collect the funds to pay the note in full then the funds will be allocated to pay for moving costs and starting over again.
