Melissa Hughes recently lost her husband, John Anthony Direito, after years of facing health challenges together. John was Melissa’s protector and closest friend, always making sure she felt safe at home and cared for during difficult times. Their five years of marriage were marked by deep trust, faith, and the support of family and friends. John’s sudden passing has left Melissa with not only emotional pain but also significant practical challenges as she navigates this new chapter alone.

Melissa is now facing urgent needs, including funeral expenses, moving costs, and the burden of outstanding debts on two vehicles John used to care for their family. She must also clean and leave her current home, find a new place to live, and cover the costs of starting over. Through all of this, Melissa’s desire is to continue her work as a nurse practitioner, live near her children and grandchildren, and focus on her own healing—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. She is seeking a season of rest, peace, and a fresh start, surrounded by the love and support of her community.

Melissa and her family are deeply grateful for the strength and care found in their community.
