Help Launch the “Almost Home Outreach Foundation”

Hi, my name is Melinda — and I’m starting the Almost Home Outreach Foundation, a nonprofit born from my own journey through homelessness, recovery, and faith.

A few years ago, I was homeless for over two years and in a wheelchair. Through the grace of God, recovery, and the kindness of others, I found my way back. Now, I’m over a year sober and feel deeply called to give back — to reach people still out there, struggling, and remind them that they are seen, loved, and not forgotten.

I go out into my community in Charleston, South Carolina, bringing meals, socks, hygiene kits, and conversation to people living on the streets. My first time out, God put Derrick, Sam, Melissa, Greg, and Horace — in my path. My boyfriend and I brought them homemade lentils, socks, sweets, razors, and a little something to lift their spirits. What I really hope to bring, though, is consistency — to show up again, listen, and share their stories.

To grow this outreach into an official nonprofit, I need help covering the $600 IRS filing fee for our 501(c)(3) status and a little extra for supplies and meals while I continue serving. Once approved, I’ll be able to apply for grants and partnerships that can truly expand our impact — including plans for a mobile outreach RV that brings food, hygiene, and hope directly to people where they are.
