My name is Jessica and I am creating this GoFundMe for my sister, Melany Watching someone you love suffer, is a pain I can’t fully explain. As an older sibling I have seen Melany Plata battle many things in life and never give up. She has always been the person everyone could count on the one who showed up, listened, cared, and gave without hesitation. Now life has asked something different of her. She is facing challenges that require strength, patience, and time. This journey isn’t easy, but she’s meeting it with the same quiet courage she’s always shown for others. Right now, she needs what she has so freely given all her life: love, encouragement, and support. Every kind word, prayer, and positive thought means more than we can express.

On Dec. 30th, Melany was in ICU for several days. Fortunately, she has made enough progress to have been taken off a ventilator. Although we have not been made aware of the extent of damage that may have occurred due to lack of oxygen, there are notable challenges Melany is facing daily in her recovery. Unfortunately, Melany does not have medical coverage that can assist in paying for rehabilitation or neurotherapy that is needed to help her recovery.

Melany has a long road to what will hopefully be a full recovery, but it will take time and patience for the best possible outcome.
