Support Melanie's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
I want to start by saying we appreciate each and everyone that has reached out to check on Mom and us. The outpouring of love and prayers have been felt.
We are starting this GoFundMe to try and meet the needs that are most essential since Mom's medical condition began.
On July 17th our mom, Melanie, suffered a severe stroke which caused a brain hemorrhage. The stroke caused her left side to be unresponsive and in need of 24-hour care. Since then she has been through 4 surgeries: EVD placement, Tracheotomy, GTube placement and in place of the EVD she had a shunt placed. She has a number of procedures to give her the best fighting chance. She is still in ICU and the journey is going to be long for her recovery.
Our Brother Bucky has been working alongside Our Nephew Zeb to help mom with her financial burdens for the past several years and as mom would say it they “were a team” as she also contributed her monthly check to rent and groceries and all the other bills that come with the cost of living.
From day one of our Mother suffering this stroke, Bucky hasn’t left her side but for brief moments. Bucky has said that He will now watch over mom and make sure that she is being cared for with dignity and respect. Bucky has spent hours of sleep in the back of His vehicle in the hospital parking because He didn’t want to leave the hospital and be close by in case something happened to her.
Bucky is in need of some financial help to take care of the cost that it cost living from a hospital and going back and forth between His actual home and being with Mom. Bucky has taken a leave of absence at His job to make Mom His first priority as She did for Him many moons ago when she was just 18 years old.
We respect Him for that.
He will eventually sign up to be a caregiver for mom and be able to be compensated for caring for her (which is a really great program) but right now He isn’t making any money and has begun to struggle some with food and gas.
The Family that would love to share the load have gotten sick or are out of state. We are pulling resources together the best we can but have come to the conclusion we can't do it alone. We have always been a family that figures it out but right now we just need a little help.
Our Mother was also recently diagnosed with stage 1 Thyroid cancer and at this time is just being monitored.
Would you please consider helping Bucky out? Anything is appreciated and if you can't help financially, sharing this could make a huge difference. Your continued prayers are always appreciated.
We hope and believe that God is at work in all of this and that our beautiful Mom will continue to take steps into recovery.
