Support Mekhail's Final Journey to Chicago

Hi everyone, my name is Gaby,

I am trying to raise money for my nephew Mekhail he is a brilliant and brave 11-year-old and his parent’s only child. In February of 2023 he was diagnosed with an aggressive and rare form of cancer called Desmoplastic small round cell tumor that quickly spread to several of his main organs. He went through several chemotherapies, radiation treatments, and risky surgeries in attempt to remove the cancerous tumors and in May of 2024 he was finally cancer free. Unfortunately, in September of 2024 the cancer came back, we knew there was always a chance of the cancer coming back, our family never imagined it would come back so soon. My nephew again had to have more surgeries done to remove tumors in his chest and then do chemotherapy and radiation. But the cancer still progressed he tried trial treatments, and they did not help. Mekhail has gone through good and bad days and in March after many days in the pediatric ICU he was stabilized but the damage to his liver prevented any further treatments. The only options left were too risky to pursue. Mekhail is our little fighter, but his body was worn-out and his parents agreed that the best option was to stop his current medical care so that he can try to enjoy the time he has left with all of us. Since then, we have been trying to fulfill his final wishes, and his last wish is to be able to live in Chicago. Mekhail loves Chicago and feels a strong connection and peace when he has visited. However, time is not on our side and Mekhail's strength has been getting weaker these past few days. I realized we need help to be able to make his last wish reality by being able to make Chicago Mekhails' final resting place. This fundraiser will help his parents with the costs of end of life care and funeral expenses. Our families alone don't have enough funds to fulfill this last wish and need help achieving it as soon as possible. As anyone can imagine it’s been hard keeping up with all the bills that comes from chemotherapy, radiation, doctor and hospital visits in Tampa and Miami. My goal is to raise $20,000, but any amount you can donate would be of great help in trying to fulfill my nephew’s last wish and help his parents with funeral expenses.

Estoy tratando de recaudar fondos para mi sobrino Mekhail. Él es un niño brillante y valiente de 11 años, y el único hijo de sus padres. En Febrero de 2023 le diagnosticaron una forma agresiva y rara de cáncer llamada tumor desmoplásico de células pequeñas y redondas, que rápidamente se extendió a varios de sus órganos principales. Pasó por varias quimioterapias, tratamientos de radiación y cirugías de alto riesgo en un intento de eliminar los tumores cancerosos, y en Mayo de 2024 finalmente quedó libre de cáncer. Lamentablemente, en Septiembre de 2024 el cáncer regresó. Sabíamos que siempre existía la posibilidad de que el cáncer volviera, pero nuestra familia nunca imaginó que sería tan pronto. Mi sobrino tuvo que someterse nuevamente a más cirugías para eliminar tumores en su pecho y luego a quimioterapia y radiación. Pero el cáncer siguió avanzando; probó tratamientos experimentales, pero no dieron resultado. Mekhail ha pasado por días buenos y malos, y en Marzo, después de muchos días en terapia intensiva pediátrica, logró estabilizarse, pero el daño a su hígado impidió continuar con más tratamientos. Las únicas opciones que quedaban eran demasiado riesgosas para intentarlas. Mekhail es nuestro pequeño luchador, pero su cuerpo ya estaba agotado y sus padres acordaron que la mejor opción era detener su atención médica actual para que pudiera tratar de disfrutar el tiempo que le queda con todos nosotros. Desde entonces, hemos estado tratando de cumplir sus últimos deseos, y su último deseo es poder vivir en Chicago. Mekhail ama Chicago y siente una conexión y paz muy fuerte cuando ha visitado la ciudad. Sin embargo, el tiempo no está de nuestro lado y la fuerza de Mekhail se ha ido debilitando en estos últimos días.
