The video explains how I found myself in this period of homelessness, pregnant, without family support, and the father of this child choosing to leave after being present for 3.5 months. I am 29 years old, from Minnesota. I am starting to work again after life has taken a handful of turns. The father is 14 years older than me, a father of 4 boys, someone who I thought I could trust on his word that he would be here. He is known as Michael Wilson, DJ Phoenix, and Chef Tuffy.
I have not used a credit card once during this rebuilding period as I know I am not in the position to pay them off. I am putting everything into financial stability for a home for baby and me, and working as much as I can.
Anything is appreciated ❤️ Whether that is sending words of encouragement, a hug, a story, it does not need to be monetary. I have grown so much throughout these last few months but would never have gotten through without this amazing community. Even if it takes months, I will do everything that I can to get this test before baby is here in April.
When my body started showing more, he started to act differently. I do not know why this change happened. He is cutting off contact unless I fully fund a blood DNA test. Intentionally knowing that is not something I can afford. A before birth test cannot be court-ordered. I have looked into options with my OBGYN, state assistance, various centers. This can only be paid out of pocket. The DNA tests are not cheap, averaging $1,500+ before any fees.
Messages from his ex-wife confirmed he will continue to gaslight and deny until I get paternity. I know this is his child because the only other possible man wanted a blood DNA test and it was 0.00% probability of paternity.
Questioning him only created a larger fire of denial in the man who repeatedly told me and showed me:
How he was a good dad.
That he would be there.
That I should never question his word that he is not going anywhere. He wanted to meet my parents.
When I wrote that letter to him on August 29th, he said two things:
He does not believe in abortions
At the end of the day (by Minnesota law), a man has 49% say and a woman has 51% say in what she decides to do with her body.
He has experienced exactly what I am going through. He was homeless slept in an arts building closet as a dad. He’s lost all of his money to a family member a few years ago. He’s gone through periods of not speaking with some family members.
Maybe reality just hit for him. This is his 5th child amongst 4 different mothers. I am 14 years younger. I do not “look the part” of his #blacknuclear family image. I am someone who will stand up for herself.
