We are raising funds to support my sister Megan and, most importantly, her two sons, Max (13) and Henry (11), during the most difficult moment of their lives.
Megan first battled breast cancer in her early 30s as a young mother and, after years cancer-free, learned in May of 2024 that it had returned and was terminal. It had spread to her lungs and bones.
As a single mom she was determined to fight as long as she could to stay with her boys. She initially responded well to chemotherapy, but complications from pneumonia and sepsis forced her to stop treatment.
In early January 2026, Megan was given a prognosis of three months to live, but has now been admitted to hospice, where she likely has only days left.
Megan is a devoted mom who has raised two remarkable boys, each carrying pieces of her with them. Max (13) has inherited her deep love of reading—a particular joy for a mother who built her career editing novels in the publishing world. While Megan’s passion has always been romance, Max has found his own world in fantasy, devouring book after book. Henry (11), on the other hand, shares Megan’s appreciation for a slow morning and a late start to the day, a small but meaningful bond that reflects her gentler rhythms of life.
Our mother, Holly, has moved into Megan’s home to care for her and the boys—coordinating medical care, communicating with schools, driving to activities, and setting up hospice. In the coming days, we will be seeking guardianship so that the boys can remain with their grandmother, Holly, as Megan wanted. They will have the support of a big loving and loud family - her 3 brothers, 2 sisters, 2 brother-in-laws, 2 sister-in-laws, aunt, and niece. Any financial support offered will help ensure she can continue to provide stability, care, and opportunity for the boys as they navigate life without their mother.
