Help Megan Rebuild After Emotional & Financial Devastation
Hi, my name is Megan. Asking for help like this is something I never imagined I’d have to do, and one of the hardest things to do.
I’ve been financially independent since I was a teenager. I’ve worked hard, raised my daughters, and tried to build a safe, loving home. But now, I’m facing a nasty divorce from a man I once believed in…a man who made promise after promise and broke every single one.
He convinced me to move away from my support system for a “fresh start.” He promised to be faithful, to protect our family, to grow old with me. But for years, he continued cheating, lying—even involving our children in his deception. In January, his mistress confirmed their long affair, not out remorse or guilt but because she simply wanted to share a life with him. Since then, he has left me with every bill, every responsibility for the home we created together, and zero support.
While he takes trips with her, while I’m struggling to keep the lights on, put food on the table, and provide financial stability for our daughters. And now, he wants to sue me for $37,000, demanding I pay him I also pay $43,000 after we sell our home. He also wants to take the only car I have to take our daughters from point A to point B, or drive to the store to pick up groceries. He even wants to force me sell every piece of furniture in the home including our children’s bedrooms sets, so I need to fully restart all over, while he hasn’t contributed a single dollar to our daughters’ care or needs over the last 6 months.
On top of that, he constantly intimidates me—sending law enforcement to my home while our daughters are present. He threatens to take full custody because I work from home and now keep the girls with me full-time, as I can no longer afford daycare due to his lack of financial contribution. He is extremely manipulative and controlling, trying to dictate everything. And when I speak up or push back, he retaliates—by threatening another lawsuit or trying to file a protective order to isolate me further. I finally have a family member nearby. But he’s trying to make sure that I have nothing left, as he threatens more orders.
I previously had a lawyer, but I ran out of funds before I could even serve him with divorce papers. The retainer for a new attorney is $8,500, and could rise even higher. Every dollar I have is going to keeping my children clothed, fed, and safe.
I am asking for help to:
• Hire a lawyer to protect myself and my daughters and fight for my kids everyday.
• Stay afloat with mortgage, groceries, and childcare, as I’m just financially struggling
• Fight against financial abuse and emotional manipulation
Even the smallest amount means the world to me right now. I’m not looking for revenge, just fairness, protection, and the chance to rebuild a peaceful life for my daughters and myself.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading, sharing, or supporting in any way.
