Mead Street Studio is a South Seattle recording studio, that supports BIPOC artist. Like many spaces, we been impacted by the social and financial barriers of COVID-19 and need your support! The $10,000 raised will got directly towards rent, and monthly upkeep for 2021, and will allow artist and community members to continue to safely use the space throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Artist often face the grunt of financial hardships during times of crisis, not to mention the continual fight against displacement by way of gentrification of the Hillman City neighborhood.
Mead Street Studio has consistently been a space for artist of all mediums and background to create, collaborate, and build upon their creative passions without the financial pressures of a capital centered recording studio. Prior to COVID, studio fees and upkeep responsibilities were dispersed collectively between the artist who consistently use the space. Our collective centered model allowed for a revolving door of both upcoming artist in Seattle and experienced artist from all over the world, to access the space and build creative relationships without the burden of high studio fees and upfront cost.
The goal of the studio is not, and never has been, to be a revenue generating facility, but to provide access to state of the art media recording and production equipment. Please donate to help Mead Street Studio continue to provide the resources and communal support for artist who want to both work and create sustainably!
