Let’s Help Maya Feel Safe, Strong, and Confident Again
Hi, my name is Lisa and like so many others in our community, I was absolutely heartbroken after hearing about the bullying incident involving Maya at Kingsgrove North High School in NSW.
No young girl should ever have to go through something like this. What she experienced has shaken the hearts of so many people who saw what happened and felt helpless witnessing another human being treated that way.
Even though I don’t know Maya personally and I am just a member of our community, I know one thing for certain: she deserves to know that the world is bigger than the cruelty she experienced, and that there are many people who care about her and want to see her strong again.
This fundraiser is about showing Maya that humanity, kindness, and support still exist.
The funds raised may go toward:
• Self-defence or boxing classes to help rebuild her confidence and sense of strength
• Support for Maya and her family during this incredibly difficult time (counselling services, school transition costs, or a new school uniform)
• Helping give her the opportunity to heal, feel safe again, and return to a new school with confidence
Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is come together as a community and lift someone up when they’ve been knocked down.
If you are able to donate, even a small amount, it will mean so much. If you cannot donate, sharing this fundraiser is just as powerful.
With the power of social media and our beautiful community, this fundraiser has reached Maya and her family.
I have now met with Maya and her family in person. Because Maya is under 18, her mother Sanjalin has been added as the official GoFundMe beneficiary so that all funds are transferred directly to her.
Thank you to everyone who has already donated or shared this fundraiser. Your kindness shows Maya that our community stands together against bullying.
