Help the Mattison Family Support Max’s Long Road to Recovery
It is with heavy hearts that we share heartbreaking news about one of our cherished MPCC family members. Christina Mattison, a beloved and dedicated teacher at our River Road Campus, and her family are going through an unimaginable tragedy.
On Friday, Christina and Flynn Mattison’s 20-year-old son, Max, was critically injured in a tragic workplace accident. While on the job, a tree being cut down fell on him, resulting in a devastating spinal injury. Max was airlifted to Albany Medical Center, where he underwent emergency surgery on his spine. He is currently in a medically induced coma.
Doctors have informed the Mattison family that Max sustained a compound fracture in his spine that has left him paralyzed. They shared that it may be 12–18 months before there is any hope of regaining feeling in his lower extremities—if at all.
Christina, Flynn, and their younger son Vincent are now facing a long, emotional, and uncertain road ahead. The challenges are not only medical and logistical, but also deeply emotional. Max’s care will require extensive hospitalization, physical therapy, long-term rehabilitation, adaptive equipment, and housing modifications, all while the family navigates the day-to-day challenges of supporting each other through this crisis.
This is where we hope you can help. We are asking our community, near and far, to come together to support the Mattison family during this incredibly difficult time. Every donation—no matter how small—will go directly to the family to help cover medical bills, rehabilitation costs, travel expenses, and the essential resources needed to care for Max.
If you’re not in a position to give, we ask that you please keep Max, Christina, Flynn, and Vincent in your thoughts and prayers—and help spread the word by sharing this fundraiser.
Let’s lift the Mattison family up with the same love and care that Christina brings into her classroom every day. Thank you for your kindness and support.
