Hey everyone! My name’s maverick but I go by MAV. I was born with a disability called Cystic fibrosis or “CF” for short. One of the main causes of CF is destroying of the lungs, our body has a hard time removing mucus and cleaning itself so we tend to get a lot of trapped mucus that breeds bacteria and we have to do special treatments to clear it and help us be healthy. With that being said my lungs got bad when I was 16 and I needed a life saving double lung transplant to be able to live longer and grow up. I was able to get that amazing gift back then and was able to finally be a “normal” kid. I could play with my siblings again and could go out shopping and to the movies. I was able to live again!! When you have a transplant tho there’s always a risk of your body noticing the new organ and killing it. I made it 4 years and my body noticed the donor lungs and I went into rejection. I’m currently almost 7 years out from my transplant but I am in rejection so my lungs are only working 28%. There’s days I’m struggling to breathe that I can’t get out of bed, I have a hard time going shopping anymore. I can’t go to the movies or play with my siblings without being so out of breath even with an oxygen tank on me. I’ve been fighting to hopefully get another lung transplant to be able to grow up with my family even more to hopefully have my own kids one day, just to do the basic stuff in life most people don’t think about. I’ve been battling for 3 years and Vanderbilt has officially denied me, so if I want another transplant and chance at life I have to go out of state. This is why I’m making this, I am trying to get insurance approval for another transplant out of state. I have a few centers talking with insurance and saying they will take me as a patient but I will have to move to their states and get an apartment there. I am 22 years old and have been disabled my whole life, I need help getting the funds to up root my life and move to another state and get a apartment for a few months so I can get another lung transplant. If yall could help in anyway whether it’s physically donating money for gas and lodging to get a apartment or if it’s nothing but a prayer just to hopefully have everything work out so I can move and get another transplant and hopefully live longer to see my family grow up. ANYTHING helps! I’m sorry if this isn’t a good explanation I’m currently in the hospital 24/7 on oxygen trying to get better to be able to move. I appreciate anything you can do from a penny to a prayer, thank yall so much!
