Once upon a time, I fell in love with a man who, in the beginning, seemed like everything I’d ever hoped for. We got married, started building a life together, and welcomed our beautiful son, Maverick, into the world. But over time, the cracks began to show. The person I thought I knew changed, and what followed were years of emotional and verbal manipulation that wore me down piece by piece.

After seven long and difficult years, I finally found the strength to file for divorce. It was finalized in February—a huge step toward reclaiming peace for myself and stability for my son.

But sadly, the emotional turmoil didn’t end there. In recent weeks, it’s shifted to affect Maverick. Since early to mid-July, he has been staying with me—not because I’ve kept him from his father, but because he is refusing to go back. He’s voiced fear, discomfort, and a strong desire to stay in a safe, loving environment.

Then on August 6th, something happened that shook me to my core—an incident that revealed just how volatile his father can be. Thankfully, Maverick didn’t witness it, but it made one thing painfully clear: I can’t do this alone anymore.
