Hi, I’m Matt Rogers, a Life Scout in Troop 97, New City, NY. I am currently working on my Eagle project benefitting the Nanuet Senior High School orchestra. Scouting and Nanuet Orchestra have been a big part of my life, from Pinewood Derbies in elementary school to memorable trips performing at Hershey with the orchestra. Our orchestra is one of the best in the state, but our facilities could use some improvements. Specifically, we don’t have enough storage for our instruments! The storage we do have is worn down, and that’s why I decided I will be building new wooden cubbies for the Orchestra, allowing higher capacity, better spacing, and quick access to instruments for Nanuet Senior High School orchestra students. The current cubbies will be repurposed to the Barr Middle School Orchestra, expanding their musical capacity as well. Education and opportunity in music is crucial to the development of well-rounded, successful students, and I am happy that my siblings and fellow students will be able to enjoy this upgrade for years to come.
