Support Mary: Rewiring Her Home for Safety

My name is Shelly. I am Mary’s daughter. My mother is in desperate need of having her home rewired. She lives in a trailer that could literally burn to the ground at any moment. It has needed rewiring for many years.

My mother is 82 years old, still working just to survive when she should be retired and enjoying her life. My mother has raised five children and has over 30 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When any of us need help or a shoulder to cry on, she’s always there, and not just for her children and grandchildren but for anyone. My mom is one of the most selfless people I have ever known, always putting others first.

My mother is a hostess at my sister’s restaurant. I have seen her after her shift in tears because her legs hurt so bad, but yet she gets up every day and works, then has to come home to a trailer that is so hot that she continuously wipes sweat off her face. At this point, until it is fixed, she can only use certain sockets; if she uses too many, it overloads and blows fuses. We have come up with enough money to cover the parts; we’re just needing the money to cover the electrician's labor.

There are many other things that need to be fixed in her trailer as well. Her floors are falling through. There are so many weak spots. I’m literally afraid that she’s gonna fall through one of them one day. But the most important thing is the electricity. If you can help at all, it would be so appreciated.
