Support Martha's Healing Journey and Recovery

Dear friends, family, and compassionate supporters,

I’m reaching out to you as Martha Alemán Sevilla’s granddaughter, with a heartfelt plea for support during one of the most difficult times our family has faced.

My grandmother recently underwent a critical follow-up surgery to replace a faulty hip implant that was the result of a previous medical error. This second surgery was necessary to correct the damage and give her a real chance at walking again. However, it has come at an overwhelming emotional and financial cost.

Due to complications from the procedure, she required multiple blood transfusions and was admitted to the ICU for several days. It was an incredibly scary time for our family, but by the grace of God, she pulled through.

My grandmother is one of the strongest, most loving people I know. She’s spent her life caring for others, always putting her family and community first. Watching her suffer after the first failed surgery, losing her mobility and independence, was heartbreaking. This recent procedure brings hope, but also a long and challenging road ahead.

All of our family’s savings have gone toward covering the costs of the surgery, medication, and immediate care. Now, she needs physical therapy, ongoing treatment, and daily support to regain her strength and quality of life.

On top of everything, due to financial hardship and the need for long-term care, my Abuela now has to be relocated to Nicaragua. This move adds another layer of emotional and logistical difficulty during an already painful recovery process. We are doing everything we can to ensure she has a safe environment and the resources she needs once there, but the costs continue to mount.
